N차 관람
책을 처음 읽으면서도 의아했던 점인데, 50년 전에 비밀의 방을 열었던 것이 루시우스 말포이라는 추측이 의아했다. 루시우스 말포이가 50년 전에 호그와트를 다녔다면 당시 10대였을 테니 지금 60대여야 한다. 10대 아들이 있는 영화 속 루시우스 말포이는 40대로 보였기에, 의아했던 부분이다.
그리고 또 다른 궁금증, 비밀의 방의 괴물은 슬리데린이 실존했을 때부터 존재했으니 거의 수천 년을 산 셈인데, 호그와트 수도에 갇혀서 뭘 먹고살았을까 궁금했었다. 풀리지 않은 의문이다.
책과 다른 점
비밀의 방 전설에 대해 궁금한 학생들 덕분에 <호그와트의 역사>가 인기 도서가 되어버린 후, 헤르미온느는 마법의 역사 수업에서 빈스 교수에게 비밀의 방에 대해 질문한다. 영화에서는 변신술 수업과 맥고나걸 교수님으로 대체되었다. 빈스 교수를 새로 캐스팅해야 할뿐더러 유령이어서 분장이나 그래픽 작업이 필요한 반면, 맥고나걸 교수님은 캐스팅은 물론 인지도도 좋고, 비밀의 방에 대해 충분히 설명해 줄 만한 인물이었다. 이 또한 알맞은 각색이었음이 틀림없다.
헤르미온느가 비밀의 방에 대해 말해달라고 요청한 이후, 호기심으로 눈을 반짝이는 다른 아이들을 비춘 장면에서는 책의 구절이 생각나기도 했다.

Well, shortly before departing, he sealed it, until that time when his own true Heir returned to the school. The Heir alone would be able to open the Chamber and unleash the horror within, and by so doing, purge the school of all those who, in Slytherin's view, were unworthy to study magic. Well, naturally, the school has been searched many times. No such chamber has been found.
